Document Scanning Software

Document Scanning Software - Content Central™

Document Scanning Software accepts digital images of paper documents obtained through a scanning device and stores the resulting information on a computer server or network. Document scanning software helps eliminate the problems associated with paper, such as loss, damage, and the expense of duplication.

Good scanning software accomplishes more than accepting digitized images of paper documents. OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology can extract text from the scanned images for full-text searching in document management systems. Index fields (metadata, tags), provided through data entry or Zonal OCR, can be associated with the images for faster retrieval and identification. Paper-scanning software may also include image-manipulation tools, such as rotation, reordering, and rescanning.

As a browser-based document management solution, Content Central™ contains the necessary tools for scanning and organizing paper documents. After installing Content Central™ on a Microsoft® Windows® server, Content Central™ Free Trial authorized users interact with the application using a standard Web browser. Content Central™ contains fully browser-based scanning software (DirectScan™), a barcode generator for scanning batches of paper (QCards™), and a data-entry interface that can be accessed locally or remotely using the Internet. The application accessed in-house is the same application accessed remotely.

DirectScan™: Browser-Based Document Scanning

One or more documents can be scanned directly into your Web browser. Content Central™ converts the scanned images to fully-searchable PDF files complete with full-text information and any associated index fields.

DirectScan™ is an excellent scanning application for anyone looking for an off-site, scan-to-Web solution. It removes unnecessary steps of data transfer and importing commonly associated with traditional scanning software.

QCards™: Simplifying Batch Paper Scanning

QCards™ contain barcodes used to separate documents and/or identify them during batch scanning. QCards™: Simplifying Batch Paper Scanning

Each QCard™ is printed and placed on top of one or more documents. These documents are then scanned to a network location that Content Central™ monitors for automated processing. After interpreting a QCard™, Content Central™ discards it and produces a fully-searchable PDF document complete with full text and any associated index fields.

Pre-Capture Coding QCards™ allow index fields to be entered before scanning. These index fields are displayed on each QCard™ and automatically associated with the respective document when converted to a PDF file.

Post-Capture Coding QCards™ can be used one or more times to separate documents during scanning. Content Central™ converts these documents to PDF files, and routes them to the Coding Queue where index fields can be added to the documents.

Versatile Coding QCards™ provide a mix of both Pre-Capture Coding and Post-Capture Coding QCards™. Some index fields can be provided before scanning, and some can be provided after scanning.

OCR Only QCards™ convert associated documents to fully-searchable PDF files and commit the documents directly to the system, bypassing any index-field prompts.
